I’m interested in places, their energy, their wounds, their potential. Plants can tell us a lot about a place, if we listen to them. Some have been planted decades ago, others grew naturally. I collect leaves blown down by the wind. If there are plenty, I sometimes also pick leaves from trees or herbs on the roadside. I sit down, contemplate and write down thoughts and feelings. Then I prepare a dye bath in a colour corresponding to the location. I tie, for example, onion or avocado peel into a cotton rag and heat it gently in water for a while.
